So he took the children away, or so the famous story goes, but the truth is far more mundane: he was simply cursed to never stop playing until he got paid. His flute of bone plays a tune that reminds whoever hears it of the promises they keep putting off. So the more payments, replies, and deadlines a person lets pile up, the closer his footsteps come. He and the price-hiking giant monk, Neagedon, are forever squabbling over money, and the flute usually shuts him up.

The only one who can resist his flute is Akazukin, whose wolf ears shrug off the sound. The souls of the rats he gathered somehow end up riding along on Gyuuzume's packed train.
